Joe & Rebecca Harvey
WNY Medical Missionaries to Congo

For 22 years, Joe and Rebecca Harvey have been medical missionaries in Congo where they started Pioneer Christian Hospital in a remote region of the country – so remote, you cannot get there by road, only by plane or boat. Joe is a family physician who does just about everything – primary care, hospital medicine, surgery and obstetrics (he delivered his own kids in Congo). They have four children who were raised in Congo.

As a ministry of CMDA, Global Health Outreach is a short-term international missions program dedicated to providing healthcare while spreading the gospel by sending medical, dental and surgical teams around the world.

Less than 5% percent of Christian healthcare students and residents will leave the US to do career medical missions. This means that >95% of Christians preparing for careers in healthcare will practice some form of medicine inside the US.

REMEDY22 will challenge you to listen for God’s call on your life to serve and practice right here in your own back yard, to surround you with a community of people follow a similar calling, and provide resources to help make it all happen.

Medical Education International is a short-term missions program that provides academic teaching and clinical training while spreading the gospel to doctors and students in hard to reach countries.

Our teams consist of two to 10 fully-trained healthcare professionals, although some teams may accept residents. Teams teach subjects requested by their hosts. This may include medicine, dentistry, nursing, medical ethics and faculty development.

MEI’s primary goals are spiritual—the spiritual development of team members, encouraging local believers and missionaries, and sharing Christ’s love and the Good News with international colleagues. Teams also hope to improve healthcare by improving the knowledge and skills of local professionals, especially faculty. Participants donate their time and self-fund their trips.
