How is CMDA of WNY Financed?
Funding for ministry expenses, including the area director’s part-time salary, comes from donations to our Local CMDA Chapter. Your partnership will make a difference in encouraging, equipping, and connecting healthcare professionals and medical & dental students. In return, this will improve patient care through the integration of faith and health. All gifts are tax deductible, with receipts provided by the CMDA national organization.
CMDA of WNY Membership Requirements
The CMDA of WNY meetings are open to anyone interested in attending, and there are no membership requirements to attend any of our events. If someone desires to make a greater level of commitment and support to the ministry, they can become a member of the Local Council. This is the leadership group that is responsible for carrying out the mission and activities of the organization.
Local Council members are afforded the privilege to vote, participate in the decision making of the group, and receive all mailings. No dues or membership fees are required, although giving of time, talent and resources is expected of Local Council Members.
To become a member of our Local Council, you do not have to be a member of the national CMDA organization, although this is encouraged.
Local Council Membership
The Local Council is the leadership group of CMDA of WNY, and membership entails the following:
- A commitment to Jesus Christ. Above all, CMDA is a Christian organization. Therefore, it is imperative that all local council members accept the CMDA Statement of Faith, and have personally experienced the redemptive power of Jesus Christ.
- A commitment to CMDA. While not all local council members may be members of CMDA, it is important that all members are in agreement with the goals of both the local and national organizations. Local ministries are an extension of the national organization, and the two must work together as one.
- A commitment to the local ministry. The local council exists because someone had a vision for ministry in the local healthcare community. Those who join the local council must do so because their heart resonates with that vision. Local council membership is a commitment of time, talent, and treasure.
- Time. For most people, time is precious. Few people are looking for more meetings to attend. While it may not be possible to attend all meetings of the local council, it is important to recognize the time commitment involved in membership.
- Talent. Everyone has certain talents to be used in the Kingdom of God. Whatever particular talent God has given you should be exercised faithfully on the local council leadership team.
- Treasure. Local ministries cannot function without the faithful financial support of the health professional community. In addition to encouraging others to support this ministry financially, it is expected that all members of the local council will participate in its financial support. Jesus said, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21).
In order to join the leadership team of the Local Council, a health care professional must make the commitments outlined above, affirm the CMDA statement of faith, complete an application, and meet briefly with an officer of CMDA of WNY. Contact us for more information or to request membership.
